命名 ming ming - Assign a name.
命 ming Have two meanings.
1. Life 生命 sheng ming
2. Command 命令 ming ling.
生命 Life
Up to now, scientist all over the world, still cannot have solid evidence that can convince everyone of us how life was form. One thing for sure how clever and advance they are, they still can not create a living thing that can breathe on earth. And for sure whatever they make, the material they used, has to come from earth. As God said ''It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexuality immoral, sorcerers, 施魔法者 idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.'' Revelation 21:6-8.
In fact, all the answers are reflecting in the word 生命
生 take out ) becomes 主 means The Lord. God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed ) into his nostrils the breath of life. 生 Genesis 2:7
命 split into 人 man 一 one 口 mouth 卩 ear.
Words are spoken from the mouth, 口 and Word is Jesus. John 1:1-5 In the beginning God only create one man, 一 人 God said to Adam, ''you shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die'' Adam did not listen 卩 and obey the command 命令 Genesis 3:3.
But God is always merciful and faithful, He gave us another chance, ''For God love us, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not be perish but have eternal life.'' John 3:16. God give us another chance to be with Him, But what shall we do?
命令 Command
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets, I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an tota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever releases one of the least of these commandments and teaches other to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17.
Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. Matthew 22:36-40. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in Hs love. John 15:10
We must have Life 生命 first before the name 名 can be given.
名 Name
When we were born, a name was given to us; we have no choice, whether we like it or not, the name is reflected in our birth certificate. It sticks with us for the rest of our life, although we can choose another name to our liking, but the first name can never be erased.
名 split into 2 parts, 夕 eve 口 mouth, word come from mouth.
In the beginning 夕 was the Word, 名 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5.
Out of the ground the Lord formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name 名. Genesis 2:19-20.
How about Adam? I believed God gave it to him, ''And to Adam He said'' Genesis 3:17
Adam gave his wife's name 'Eve', ''The man called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.'' Genesis 3:20
What is the will of My Father? The answer is stated in the last words of Jesus when He was on earth. "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
Message
It is good to know the meaning of our name before God, as God gave the name of Abraham, which means 'Father of a multitude of nations'. Genesis 17:5. Same as Israel, 'Struggle with God and with men and have overcome' Genesis 32:28. Jesus also named as 'Immanuel' God with us Matthew 1:23
We should never complain of our name, whether good or bad. Because in the first place, the Right of naming does not belong to us,as said in Isaiah 49:1 "The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother He named my name." More importantly is how to make use of our name to spread the Gospel, to God be the Glory. Because not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord" will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one whodoes the will of My Father, who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21
So let us make sure we can "Rejoice that our names are written in heaven." Luke 10:20

Our Father in heaven, we give You praise, we give You honor, and we give You thanks. You have given us, our name, from the day we were born, help us O Lord, tell us how we can use it to spray Your Gospel You have given to us, for the Kingdom, Power, Glory are Yours now and forever.
