犹太人的宗教历法和中国传统的农历历法有异曲同工之处: 二个历法都是以朔望月周期为依据的。按照创世纪1:14定下的要求，这是唯一正确的历法。在朔望月历法(即阴历)里，每个月始于朔，即新月，当天空上的月亮窄到看不到的时候。每个月实际上只有二十九天半，所以每月日数是三十天，二十九天，然后再是三十天，二十几天如以类推，轮流交替。在阴历的十二个月里，一年有354又3/8天，但在阳历里一年有365又1/4天(地球围绕太阳一周所需的时间)。中国人和犹太人用同样的方法来拉平阴历和阳历之间的差距: 那就是在需要的时候多加一个月，即闰月。在一个十九年的周期里，十二个年头有十二个月，七个年头有十三个月，十九年里有235个朔望月。循此历法，以日月计时，年岁季节相隨不差。

All men in fact belong to one family because Adam and Eve were parents of us all (Gen. 3:20), but there are three different genealogies after the Flood. Gen. 9:18-19,

Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth... These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.
